October 18th - MTC ...I love it!

MTC is a lot of fun!  Everyone says I'll hate the first week here but I LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT...except for the first 5 mins of the morning haha!  At the MTC, Saturdays are P-days!  First day of class was 98% Tagalog.  I was very shocked but couldn't help but smile and enjoy the class:)  We learned greetings - Kamusta po kayo?  Mabuti po ako.  Taga-saan po kayo?  Taga Woods Cross, Uta po ako.  Taga magmimisyon po kayo?  Magmimisyon po ako sa Legazpi.  Astig! (cool)....We also have learned how to testify and pray.

Yesterday, we had the chance to teach an investigator named Agnes Llamas in Tagalog.  It's only been a couple of days and we taught in Taglish (Tagalog-English).  She only speaks Tagalog and we taught her about the restoration and the Book of Mormon.  In our next meeting, we will teach her about mga propeta (prophets).  She loves seeing the missionaries and when they vista (bee-see-rah...visit), it makes her feel mas masaya (very happy).  Agnes is Catolico at Protestante, so she believes that there is no modern day propeta.  We challenged her to read the BOM and she's committed and we did that in English cause we haven't learned commitments & promised blessings until our lesson with her.  We also shared Joseph Smith's testimony from the restoration pamphlet and I was leading most of the lesson but I know I couldn't have done it without my companions' help and also of course the Espiritu Santo, it was very malakas (strong) I hope the context was right!

My companions are very magaling (great/talented).  I'm in a tripanionship with Elder Nibarger (nye-bar-gur) and Elder Simmons.  EN is from Spokane, WA but moved to Rexburg in August.  He loves wrestling and MMA and he's about as tall as me.  ES is from T-Ville, he's about 6 ft, lumpy, white nerdy looking guy but very smart.

I am doing very well with learning Tagalog, I just have to understand more of knowing what form of the word to say cause the context changes it....i.e magpapalakas and malakas.

I've felt sick the past few days, not sure if it was from eating so much or effects from the typhoid and flu shot.  Sometime during the day I'd feel like throwing up, like last night I couldn't sleep for about an hour cause I felt like throwing up.

I've ran into many friends:  Elder Ula Toluta'u, Thor Katoa from Pineview will play football with Filipo at the U when he gets back, Ethan Miller from Laie/Soar, my friend Erik Woolston, Trevor Christensen, Alec Jackson, Sione Lapu'aho and Sis. Tongi.

By the way, on Thursday, I found out I was the District Leader.  I have a very small district.  President Howard is a very funny guy as well as my Bishop, Bishop Christofferson (General Authority, Elder D. Todd Christofferson's cousin).  I will be the DL for about 3 weeks and I'm expected to leave on Nov. 27th.

My Zone Leaders are Elder Patterson & Gilliat, they're some of the coolest ZLs a missionary can ever have.  Oh btw, Pres. Howard told me about WX's loss towards the end:(  too bad!  But that's why my team still better haha!  Oh I also met Elder Na'a from Tonga, he knows Pale.  Also met Eld. Helaman Sagapolu going to Thailand.  Later today, we will be going to the Provo Temple for a session.

I could hardly wait to find out where Sione Out will be going.  I really hope Clay will go on a mission some day and also the G-hood and all my friends.  How's Danny & boys doing?  Say hi to them.  Okay, I will look out for Eld. Fale'ofa.  Tell Kingi sorry about the loss today but King it's just hard to beat WX haha jk!

Well Mom, honestly I don't miss anything or anyone at all, that's how excited I am about my mission.  I have been waiting forever for this time of my life!  There can't be a better place for me but to be here serving the Lord.  I'm excited to do more work!  They always stress "obedience" here at the MTC, I'm so glad I spoke about it on Sunday.

Alam ko po na mapagmahal po ang ating Ama sa Langit.  Alam ko po na mahalaga po si Jesucristo.  Alam ko po na katotohanan po ang aklat ni mormon. si pangalan ni jesucristo amen.

Love,
Elder Brown
